Face

As we age, the face, like other parts of the body, is affected by gravity, sun exposure, and stress. The skin loses its elasticity and we lose facial fat and volume. These changes cause the wrinkles to form and the deep nasolabial folds as well as the jowls to appear. The neck wrinkles and bands of muscle show our age. The facelift addresses: the cheek, the nasolabial fold (a deep line that runs from the corner of the nose to the corner of the mouth), the jaw line, and the neck.
A facelift does not stop the natural aging process, yet it restores a youthful appearance by tightening the layer of fat and fascia that cover the muscles in the face, called the SMAS. The excess skin is then removed without tension to prevent the artificial wind tunnel effect or the operated on look. The incisions are hidden as much as possible in the hairline and natural creases in front of and behind the ear. Facelift surgery is frequently combined with a brow lift, eyelid surgery (Blepheroplasty), soft tissue fillers around the mouth, and laser skin resurfacing procedures.
